Rewriting the Script:

A Fresh Start for Learning

When a child’s feelings towards school start to deteriorate, cracks start to appear in the form of behavioural change. Some children show their distress by simply refusing to attend. Some find themselves excluded altogether, often as a result of being in the wrong setting. However their anxiety shows up, parents are left feeling helpless and isolated.

Here at Schooled Out, we really understand. We are a team of professionals who have pooled our collective experience - in the fields of education, psychology, cognitive neuroscience and the law - to create a service which we wish could have been there for us.

We’ll help you navigate the path ahead with compassion, confidence and determination. We'll help you change the narrative for your child and your family as a whole.

  • School avoidance affects the whole family. Children don’t refuse school for no reason—their behaviour is communication. For many, prolonged distress in the school environment triggers an ongoing fight-or-flight response, flooding their bodies with stress hormones that impact their sleep, emotions, and ability to learn. Left unaddressed, this cycle erodes their confidence, motivation, and belief in themselves.

  • Many children can’t verbalize their struggles, and traditional therapy can feel unnatural or ineffective. But learning? Learning is hopeful, positive, and empowering. When a child sees themselves succeeding—on their own terms—their entire mindset begins to shift. We harness this power to break the cycle of fear and failure, helping children reconnect with education in a way that feels safe, engaging, and meaningful.

  • It's time to take the next step. Schedule a FREE consultation with us to discuss your child’s unique needs and how we can help them thrive again. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that addresses your child’s specific challenges and builds their confidence.

Who are we?

At Schooled Out we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment to rediscover the joy of learning. Specialising in supporting children who face challenges with school attendance or engagement, as well as neurodiverse learners, we design personalised educational journeys that celebrate each child’s individuality and foster growth.

Our approach combines cutting-edge neuroscience-informed strategies with trauma-sensitive practices, empowering children to rebuild their confidence and trust in their own abilities. By meeting children exactly where they are, we help them overcome obstacles and unlock their fullest potential.

  • At Schooled Out, our mission is rooted in a deep passion for supporting children and families through difficult educational challenges. Founded by Louise, whose personal experience with children who struggle with school attendance inspired the vision, we understand first hand the frustration and helplessness parents feel. With years of experience working with school-refusing children, neurodiverse learners, and those who’ve experienced educational trauma, we’ve seen the transformative power of a tailored, compassionate approach. Our goal is to provide hope, guidance, and practical solutions for families, helping children rediscover the joy of learning at their own pace.

  • Our approach is centered on the belief that every child deserves an education that meets their unique needs. We combine trauma-informed, attachment-based practices with a personalized, flexible learning plan. Each child is different, and we are committed to understanding where they are emotionally, socially, and academically, so we can meet them there. Our methods empower children to rebuild confidence, regain trust in their abilities, and overcome the barriers that have held them back in traditional education settings. By creating a safe space for learning, we foster resilience and ensure every child’s journey is a path to growth.
